Day 18

Today I am grateful for: the piano. Man, I love this instrument! It is the one instrument I have stuck with my whole life, and I have at least some actual talent with it--and it serves some purpose in my life: I play the piano quite often in church now. I am really glad to have a music calling where I get to magnify my REAL talents: which are all music-related. Anyway, I just love the piano. You can play basically anything on it, and it will sound good...

Day 17

Today I am grateful for: movie theaters. I have been there quite a bit recently by myself on Saturday/Friday nights, and I am just happy that the people just welcome in us weird, single people who are going to see a movie by themselves. I just feel welcomed and I feel the love...for myself.

Day 16

Yesterday I was thankful for: my lotion. Since it is getting much colder now, my skin dries out way faster thank normal. Especially my hands. And it's not like I am very good about putting lotion on because I don't like how you can't open anything after you put it on, but I need it now, and I am happy to have it.

Day 15

Today I shalt be grateful for: cookies. I just have this serious obsession with desserts of all kinds but with restrictions, like no nuts, and I don't really like caramel...but anyway. I am just grateful that we have delicious sweet things to eat after (or instead of...FWP) our normal, somewhat less tasty meals. What would life be like if all we ate were green beans or salad? I think we need to throw some chocolate cake into the mix, eh?

Also, Karoline just came home with like a dozen gorgeous sugar cookies from some fancy bakery five towns away. You go Glen Coco...

Day 14

Today I am grateful for: my iPod. Where would we be without our mobile music appliance? I mean, I was alive when Walkmans were the cool thing so I KNOW how nice iPods are. One really nice factor about the iPod is that you have a huge plethora of music available in like 3x1 inches, and wearing earbuds makes people not try to talk to you. They are the perfect disguise. And I just really love my music, so I love having all of my weird faves genres available in one spot. Examples are: the 80s, modern alternative punky rock, and showtunes.

Day 13

Today i am grateful for: my abundance of coats and jackets and winterwear. Since the weather dropped like 60 degrees overnight, I find that I have not quite adjusted to the newly freezing temperatures. Thankfully, I have like 6 coats, several jackets and sweatshirts, and 4 sweaters, along with a ton of scarves and a pair of gloves. Winter sucks because it is so cold, but it also rocks because the winter clothes are the better clothes.

Day 12

I am just not good at this, but at least I am trying.

Yesterday I was thankful for: BYU. I just really love this school. All the professors are really nice and understanding and you can just relate to them on a much closer level. There is also a really fun variety of classes to take, and there are cool people, etc. I am just really grateful that I got into BYU and that I am here, and that I am doing so much better than I was fall of last year.

Day 11

Today I am grateful for: my car. I am so happy to have my own car at college; it is just awesome. With my (very cute orange) car, I can take impromptu trips to Salt Lake, or the mall, or anywhere else I choose. Despite having to pay for gas and occasionally transport people around, having my own car to get about in is fabulous.

Day 10

I realized at like one this morning that I forgot to do my blog post for the 10th. Here ya go:

Today I am thankful for: the mall. The mall is possibly the greatest creation that anyone has ever created. I just love that there are lots of stores all in one location so as to create ease and comfort whilst spending all of your money. Also, malls are just super fun around Christmas (and that was not sarcastic); there is so much holiday cheer, and you can be excused for spending all of your money because you can either be buying lots of presents for other people, or you can pretend they are for other people.

Weather

Well, today I was going to be thankful for: a really abnormally warm fall...but that is now over and extinct. Yesterday it was like 70, and today it is snowing buckets. So, in conclusion, I was very grateful for the past two months being mid 50s and 60s, and I am not happy about the snow.

This has been a weather broadcast by Melanie.

The Grocery Store

Today guess what I am thankful for: the gro-cer-y store. Man, that place is just awesome. I go to Smith's, and it supplies most of my nutritional needs...and by that I mean I buy lots of stuff there. Today, for instance, I bought more croissants, hand soap, lunchmeat, soda, and lemon bread (I had planned on eating some canned peaches that I already owned later too, so don't worry). I also love that Smith's is quite close (it's like a 7 minute drive, but a 45 minute walk so that sucks) and that I can go there often to satisfy my latest craving.

Day 7

Today I am thankful for: art and creativity. What would this world be like without Van Gogh or Oscar de la Renta or Michael Jackson? Life would really suck if there weren't beautiful things to brighten up the day. I am so glad for the creativity and inspiration of all those cool famous people, and I am grateful for my own sense of creativity. I may not be the best artist, but I can watercolor the heck out of a blank sheet of paper. I will probably do a more specific post about a specific set or creative person, but for now just now that I am grateful for colorful, beautiful things to look at and listen to.

Day 6: The Google Machine

Today I am grateful for: the internets. Seriously, how did people live without Google? I would just like to thank the internets for some things, a few of which are: Tumblr, Facebook, putlocker/sockshare, google, netflix, and that country game that I play all the time.

Day 5: The Cougareat

I would just really like to be thankful for the Cougareat today. On those days where I just really need something special for lunch/dinner, I pop over to the Cougareat to check out the daily special. And by that, I mean that I go to the Scoreboard Grill every single day and have a hamburger (the people there know my name, for crying out loud). I am a creature of habit, but I am thankful for my habits; they are delicious.

Day 4: The Internets

Today I am grateful for: my computer. With my computer I can escape reality and dive into any number of alternate universes through television and movies and stuff. I just really love my film media okay? TV/movie life is just so much better than real life. My computer helps me to do fun things without having to leave my comfortable room (see "Sleep"/day 3) and I can live vicariously through characters with more interesting lives than I have.

Sleep

I would now like to be grateful for: my bed here in Provo. This is probably my favorite place in the entire city. This bed is way more comfortable than my one in Idaho for some reason, and I just sleep like the dead when I am here. Duly, I would like to give thanks for my comforter and fluffy/fuzzy blanket I currently sleep with. I would also like to give thanks for Daylight Savings Time tonight and my extra hour of sleep. That is glorious. Essentially, I am just super grateful for a comfy place to snuggle into at night.

Mailmen

Today I would like to give thanks for mailmen who charter tons of crap across the country into our front yards every day. I love getting and sending mail,--even though I am a really sucky correspondant, and I am always running out of stamps--and I am just really happy that stuff can be sent from store warehouses to my apartment, or from my Idaho house to my apartment. Stuff is just great, you know? So thank you, wonderful mailmen (and women), for braving the harsh climate of Utah to give me cool stuff...and bills, I can forgive you for that though.

Here we go again...

So, I am clearly a failure at blogging, but I have chosen to do a new designated 30 day challenge...aka just say something extremely random that I am grateful for every day. Why the heck not?

Okay, my first "I'm grateful for" thing is: TV. I mean REALLY. TV is great. It is a fabulous source of entertainment and I have gotten endless hours and years worth of pent-up emotion out because of TV. I'm just sayin' that it is a stress reliever. Who doesn't like to wrap up, eat a whole box of chocolate bread/cake and watch 5 episodes of Doctor Who or Buffy or America's Next Top Model? It is just so therapeutic.

Here is also a bonus list of the TV I am currently into (in order of current watching schedule):
Merlin
Once Upon A Time
America's Next Top Model
Downton Abbey
Jane By Design
Doctor Who
Sherlock
Psych
Pretty Little Liars
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Avatar the Last Airbender
