The Simpsons' Halloween

So, I am seriously not the best at keeping a schedule..*sigh* Welp, I may or may not continue with the "10 top things" nonsense in the near or far future...yeah I have no idea.

I started reading The Shining by Stephen King today...needless to say I am hearing noises all over my house--and I haven't even gotten to the killing part yet! I know everything that happens because of this old Halloween special of The Simpsons that my family watches every year. I know what you're thinking: What respectable LDS family watches The Simpsons? Well, 1. you are very small-minded, and 2. these Halloween specials are AWESOME. They aren't crude or disgusting like the current ones, they are just pure hilarious Halloween fun. The one I happen to be speaking of is called "The Shinning", and is a hilarious spin-off the book The Shining. Please just watch this: The Simpsons "The Shinning" Man, I am so excited about reading this book. I just stopped at the point where they are snowed in. I am quite excited to finish this >:)

I am so messed up.

I am not a slacker...

Yes, I have not posted the last two days, but my nighttime schedule is filled with a project that I must complete.

And no, I will not write my blog at a different time! Silly people.

Some movies just really suck.

TEN MOVIES THAT I HATE.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia. I just absolutely LOATH this series--at least the first installment, I couldn't bear to go beyond it. I just really hate the kids. They are way too young and stupid, and their accents are irritating beyond belief. I understand the this is a loved book series...but it sucks.

2. August Rush. The music in this movie kills me--IT IS SO FAKE. This child is not a music prodigy, he can't even play the guitar right. I also hate the story, and the ending was very anti-climatic.

3. It's Kind of a Funny Story. This movie has no plot or moral or purpose. It was just one stupid thing after another. I don't even understand the reason behind making this film.

4. The Polar Express. Another American classic degraded by my opinion. I completely abhor this movie. The animation sucks, it just does; the kids have no facial expressions at all. I also hate the music.

5. The Neverending Story. The ancient previews for this seemed fairly interesting, so I gave it a try. It was horrible. Don't even go there.

6. Groundhog Day. I am one of those people that really dislikes Bill Murray. I thought this movie was really frustrating.

7. Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. I am sorry, but I did not like this when I saw it in theaters. I was wholly confused by the "plot" and there was so much fighting in the beginning that I didn't understand the reason for.

8. Twilight. Usually this is higher up on peoples' lists, but I sort of figured that it was a given...I will give it credit for being REALLY fun to make fun of.

9. Nacho Libre. I just do not understand this movie. It was fun to watch it the first time (in a way) because of all the famous lines, but I still think the story is stupid.

10. Classic Pride and Prejudice. I am such a classic-killer. I have only seen the beginning part of this, but I was not impressed with the acting, and I don't like Colin Firth. I think he was a weird choice for the role.

It's like my stomach is a bottom-less pit or something.

So, I am chronic hungry person, so I am dedicating this post to the one thing we all have in common:

TEN TOP FAVORITE FOODS (excluding dessert).

1. Steak. I have always been a hardcore steak fan; I take my steaks rare, like flip it once or twice on the grill and I'm good. I like my meat really pink.

2. Lobster/crab. I am a diehard seafood fan. If it is seafood, I will eat it--it is probably the only food group that I am not picky about. I just find lobster/crab to be the highest of quality seafood.

3. Peanut butter. I ingest like 3 tons of this a day...okay not really, but I eat it on a lot of bread products: pancakes, waffles, and just plain sandwiches.

4. Muffins. I am a sucker for a muffin; especially ones from Costco.

5. Ham. I like my ham with a massive amount of sugary glaze on it. That is definitely when it is the best; you just can't have ham without it.

6. Rolls. I love rolls of all kinds, but I think my Aunt's rolls are the best homemade ones I have ever had. We have them at every family gathering. Mmmm...

7. Sausage and rice casserole. I don't know exactly where my mother found this recipe, but I know that I love it. It may seem simple, but it is delicious and addicting.

8. Tater tot casserole. Thank you, Kelli. Um, who can resist tater tots in any form?

9. Chips and salsa. Salsa is the only Mexican/Hispanic food I will eat with happiness. I also like it really mild, as I cannot handle any kind of spicy food.

10. Breakfast foods. Pretty much everything counts: waffles, pancakes, french toast, caramel rolls, you name it.

Hot celebrities: the reason we all watch movies/TV.

Once again my love for movies and TV has fueled this post. Here is a little picture to get the party going:

TEN OBSESS-WORTHY MALE CELEBS.

1. David Tennant. I love this man more than I should. I actually cried (ask my roommates) when I found out he was married--NO JOKE. He has GREAT hair.

2. Bobby Flay. Yes, I am really weird, but one of my main reasons for watching the Food Network all the time is him. As I once heard someone say, "He is as yummy as the food he makes."

3. Johnny Depp. We all know that I have a deep and abiding love for Johnny Depp, and today was his birthday!! :) That is sort of what fueled this post's beginnings. Everything he does, I love.

4. Tom Hiddleston. OMG I love him; seeing all the hype about him on Tumblr and then seeing The Avengers did it for me. He is precious and hothothot beyond belief.

5. Richard Armitage. I just really enjoy everything I have seen him in--he is also going to be in the upcoming Hobbit movies, so I am WAY excited about that!

6. Benedict Cumberbatch. There is a definite evolution of my feelings for this man. The first time seeing him, "Omg his face is so weird"; second, "Wow but he's a really good actor; third, "Okay, he's kind of attractive in a strange way"; fourth, "Yep, I definitely like this man"; fifth, "please come to America and love me". Yes, I'm a creep, but Tumblr has only enhanced my inner creep.

7. Colin Morgan. Gosh, he is sort of another Cumberbatch for me. I always thought his face was weird, but now I just love it--and those precious ears...

8. Eoin Bailey. I pretty much watch Once Upon A Time just for him. He is so cute.

9. James Marsters. Okay, so I pretty much just love him as Spike, but I love him nonetheless. I just think the blonde, spiky hair looks so good on him!

10. Tom Felton. Once again, just watching Harry Potter for him and Snape, because the acting sure wasn't doing it for me! I certainly think he is quite cute in the movies, now that he has grown his hair out, not so much.

Man, writing all this and finding the pictures made me really happy.

But I obsess

If you know me at all, you would realize that I am an unhealthily obsessive person.

TEN THINGS I AM WEIRDLY OBSESSED WITH.

1. The Food Network. I could actually watch this channel all day and not get bored at all. I like all of the shows I have seen, although Chopped is not my favorite. I know I talked about it a bit before, but my favorite shows include The Next Food Network Star, Good Eats, Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, Iron Chef America, and Cupcake Wars.

2. Princesses. I am a total girly-girl about this, but I have loved Princesses since I was little. I have all the Disney princess Barbies, I have a shrine to Kate Middleton on my wall, I have read tons of books about royalty of all kinds...I am obsessed. My favorite princess (although she isn't technically a princess) is Anne Boleyn--I just really have always loved how she was willing to do almost anything to get what she wanted.

3. Great Britain. This place is amazing--I love anything to do with the British. ANYTHING.

4. Cats. My family has a deep and abiding love for cats. We volunteer at a cat shelter out in south Boise, and we have two cats in my house. We do also own many cat-related items like pillows and blankets and statues...

5. Chocolate. I don't even know how to survive without chocolate. It is pretty much the staple of my diet.

6. Leopard print. If something is leopard print, then I will most likely buy it or want it really badly. I currently have this large cut of velvety leopard print fabric hanging over my bedroom window like pseudo-curtains.

7. Weddings. I discussed this before, I know, but I just have always had this thing for weddings. I don't really even know why. I mostly just think that all the planning and individualism that goes into weddings is so special and fun. I love to see the wedding colors, and cake, and dress, and location, and all the cool unique details that go into each wedding.

8. Christmas. I am such a child; but Christmas is just one of those times that I really look forward to. In fact, I had a moment today where I wished it was Christmas. And it's not really Christmas itself that I love, it's the season. I love all the traditions, and family stuff, and I guess presents are nice too.

9. Almond flavoring. This is the stuff that goes into those delicious poppy seed muffins from Costco. I LOVE it. I actually made an almond pound cake tonight to satisfy my craving for the stuff. I also really like it strong. They make this fudge at Cabelas called Amaretto fudge, and it is TO DIE FOR...if you like really strong almond flavoring.

10. Erasers. I just find erasers to be really soft and smooth, so if I am holding a pencil, it is 100% possible that I am playing around with the eraser. It really distracts me.

I am a movie fan.

As per my obsession with fictional characters, I have decided to put together a list of my favorite movies! Yay!

TOP TEN FAVORITE MOVIES.

1. Gone With the Wind. I pretty much have to have this one first on principle; I could never let down my idol, Scarlett O'Hara...and anyway, I really do love this story--and the cinematography is great for such an old film!
2. Tangled. I have watched this movie about 15 times. I just really love it...
3. The Devil Wears Prada. Okay, so I'm a sucker for a good fashion movie. I also really think that Anne Hathaway is a fabulous actress, and Meryl Streep is just awesome. You just can't go wrong with this movie.
4. Holiday Inn. This is one of those old black and white Bing Crosby movies. It is just so good. The music is really good, and the acting is awesome. This also has Fred Astaire in it, so of course the dancing is fabulous as well.
5. The Turning Point. This movie is one of the best ballet movies I have seen. It has an actual story line while still maintaining some really good dance scenes. I often just get a craving to watch this. It was made in the 70s, so the hair and clothes are pretty bad though.
6. Pride and Prejudice. NOT the awful six-hour one though, the newer one with Keira Knightley. I know it seems like utter blasphemy to hate the old one, but I do not like the acting, and I greatly dislike Colin Firth (what am I, except for an enigma?). The music is awesome and I love the costumes.
7. North and South. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Pride and Prejudice-esque stories. This one is sectioned into four 50-minute episodes. I just REALLY love Richard Armitage.
8. Confessions of a Shopaholic. A lot of the time, I feel like I am a part of this movie--I'm not in serious debt or anything, but I have the same feelings she does about shopping.
9. Pirates of the Caribbean. I just love these movies!! The second one is my favorite, however. And really, who doesn't love these movies?
10. The RM. This is a risk, putting this on here, but I just think it is so funny. It is an LDS filmed, produced,  acted, etc. movie, and I am not sure you can totally appreciate its charm unless you are LDS, but just know that it is hilarious.

Fun jobs.

Since I am in college, careers and majors are often on my mind, so I thought I would dedicate this post to

TEN MOST INTERESTING-SOUNDING CAREERS (regardless of income or realism).

1. Wedding dress designer. I admit it, I am a freak about weddings; I absolutely adore them. I remember I wanted to be a wedding dress designer my whole life until the reality that I can't draw or sew popped in. It is still something that I would love to do though.

2. Wedding planner. This was my goal after I realized the designing was a lofty goal. Recently I realized the pure awkwardness I feel when I have planned a party--I am just always really worried that everyone is bored and that it is nothing like the fun parties I have been to. I just don't know how to throw a good party! It's sad, really.

3. Interior decorator. I would love to say I have an eye for design--I could be wrong, but that's what I think. I love to move into new places because I get to completely redo my space; I just think it is so fun! I definitely went on a kick a few years ago where I would read everything I could about interior design. I still really like it, and read about it when I can.

4. Artist. I wish I could draw or paint or something. I do have a talent for copying a picture of something into a pencil drawing, but I certainly couldn't paint it or anything. I am taking a class this upcoming semester in studio art, so hopefully I can learn something--and maybe be more on my way to wedding dress designer!

5. Museum Curator. This is the career I have chosen thus far in my career...it's sort of far down on my list, but I nonetheless find it a very interesting vocation. I love museums A LOT and I think it would be super fun to work in one.

6. Ballerina. Yes, I would consider this a career. I am absolutely OBSESSED with ballet. It really consumes my YouTube time. I wish more than anything that I would have started ballet when I was young so that I could be en pointe now.

7. Architect. I have always thought that this would be a fascinating job. As far as I understand though, you have to take a lot of math and physics and stuff, but I think the designing would be really fun.

8. Surgeon. I realize that this is a really random jump, but I really admire surgeons. I think I would be fairly good at it; in high school biology I was a prodigy at dissecting. I also find hospitals fascinating.

9. Singer. I used to think that I was the greatest singer in the world when I was younger. I would go out into the middle of the field at recess and dramatically "belt" out the chorus to "Memory" from the musical Cats. I was convinced that I was going to play Christine in Phantom of the Opera. It's sort of embarrassing, but my love for singing stills remains even though I realize I am not star quality. I wish I was talented enough to make it big with that.

10. Cosmetologist. I have always thought that cosmetologists are the trendiest people; they always have really fun/funky hairstyles and cool makeup...I like that. I wish I was talented with hair--part of the reason I cut all of mine off was because I didn't know how to do anything.

YouTube.

YouTube is one of those places filled with awesome, hilarious stuff AND I LOVE IT. I avidly follow a couple of YouTubers. This is a list long in the making, and this should be quite entertaining.

TOP TEN FAVORITE YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

1. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared by thisisitcollective. I first saw this on Tumblr, and I have loved it ever since. Now, if you go and watch this, you are all going to judge me, because this is actually kind of disturbing...but I think it's HILARIOUS. It is sort of like a kids' TV show gone really wrong. Love it. Watch it. Embrace it.

2. Josh Groban Sings Kanye West Tweets. Man...whatever happened to my antique fish tank? Seriously though, this is a classic video that everyone needs to see.

3. Yes Kidz Kan, Rhinobunga! Another kids show gone horribly wrong, but in a really funny way (not disturbing like the other one).

4. Going to the Store. I don't even understand what is going on, but I think it is hilarious!!! Be warned, this is really random and strange for a whole 49 seconds.

5.Mr. G's Classroom. Yeah, I don't even know. I apparently have a really weird sense of humor.

6. Spaghetti Cat (I Weep For You). Just prepare to have this stuck in your head for days to come.

7. Sassy Gay Friend: Romeo & Juliet. I just think the Sassy Gay Friend is hilarious.

8. MADTV's Stuart Goes To His Dad's. I went through this phase where I watched ALL of the Stuart videos. They are all awesome.

9. The Girl With the Epileptic Dog by Flight of the Conchords. I pretty much just love all of their stuff though.

10. The Best YouTube video of all time. Please just go watch this, it will blow your mind.

And there you have my YouTube personality wedged into one tiny blog post; I am considering doing another installment, as there were several other videos that didn't make this cut. Stay tuned!

Please tell me you watched these...or at least the amazing last one.

TV junkie.

So, I am a TV junkie, and I have been excited about this post for some time; but, I haven't been able to really decide which TV shows deserve a spotlight on here until now.

TOP TEN FAVORITE TV SHOWS.

1. Doctor Who. I started watching this Junior year of high school, I believe, because of my friend Alicia who made me watch it. It sounded interesting to me, and as soon as I saw that episode (Voyage of the Damned was my first) I was hooked. I went home and tried to explain everything to my family, but they thought it was weird. Instant Netflix didn't exist, and I had no money to buy all the episodes on iTunes, so I waited not-so-patiently for the seasons to come from the library. I have been a devoted fan ever since. When my family went to London after I graduated from high school, we went to the Doctor Who experience which was FABULOUS. I am so glad I got to go to that. I got all kinds of sweet merch from that.

2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is a really recent obsession, maybe since mid April, but it's SO GOOD. Oh my gosh. I decided to start watching it after I wrote my Doctor Who paper for Writing this past semester. A lot of the information I came across was comparing Doctor Who to Buffy, so I thought since they were so similar I would give it a try. I am just wholly devoted now. I can't wait to get to the later seasons--I am almost done with season 3 right now--because there is some really good stuff looming.

3. Sherlock. This show is SO GOOD. I highly recommend it to everyone--especially people who like more "normal" TV. Benedict Cumberbatch is just SO GOOD as Sherlock Holmes, and the writing is really good (the same writer of Doctor Who does this show as well). Everyone needs to watch this; it appeals to all audiences, and really, who doesn't love Sherlock Holmes?

4. Merlin. Another BBC sci-fi show; this one is a King Arthur-related one where the focus is all on Merlin and Arthur growing up together in a time where magic is outlawed. Merlin is has to keep his magic hidden from Arthur, but is still always saving his life and stuff. Man, it is good.

5. Psych. This show is sort of Sherlock Holmes-esque, but it a hilarious modern way. The characters are all funny, and the episodes are always interesting. I never get tired of their shenanigans.

6. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Yes, I am obsessed with this cartoon. I watch all of the seasons this past semester, and I LOVED it. I actually HATE anime with a passion, but these characters seem so real, and the plot is very interesting.

7. Once Upon A Time. Okay so when I first watched this, I hated it; I thought it was really cheesy and sappy. Now I really like it. I just really enjoy seeing which fairy tale characters the people are and how their stories play out...it's just sort of fun.

8. Robin Hood. This show was fabulous up until the horrible end to season 2--I couldn't even watch past it. But the acting and story was so good until then, and then the ending was heart-breaking and stupid. I still recommend it though up until that point.

So those are the top 8 that I have really obsessed over, the next two are just part of a bigger obsession: THE FOOD NETWORK.

9. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I really love this show. I just like watching Guy go to all those cities and eat stuff...I don't even know why. I also really like it when he comes/goes to places in Boise.

10. Next Food Network Star. I just really like elimination shows like this, and Bobby Flay has a big part in this season. <3.

Frights.

This post is a completely spur of the moment, random idea.

TEN THINGS I AM AFRAID OF.

1. Moths. They actually freak me out more than anything. I don't like that 1. they only come out at night, 2. they can't fly straight and they can't steer, so they are always close to hitting me, and 3. they are disgusting. I just shiver with the thought of them.

2. Teeth. I hate teeth; I have since I was little. Loose teeth especially have freaked me out my whole life. I really hated the feeling of loose teeth in my mouth, so I would leave them alone and not touch them, or brush them. I will leave the rest to your imagination.

3. Grasshoppers. This just stems off of an experience I had when I was little. My family was taking a walk on a mountain trail, and there were all these grasshoppers zipping around RIGHT AT FACE LEVEL. It was horrible. They kept hitting me in the face and I was just terrified.

4. Nasal vaccinations. I have had a flu shot only once, and I was not happy about it. It was taking place at school because we were having a nasty bought of the flu that had almost 25% of the school out sick, so almost everyone was required to get one. When I got there, the majority of the vaccines were taken nasally, and I thought I was going to pass out; the whole idea just freaked me out. I insisted that I have a shot, and a shot I got. Well, at least I can never take drugs, because taking things nasally just freaks me out.

5. Eye doctor. Specifically these anesthesia drops I had one time that made me faint. Those eye drops really made me uncomfortable; my eyes felt really heavy and dry and then I blacked out. Now the thought of those drops, as well as anything else that goes in my eyes, just makes me nauseous.

6. Cutting myself. Now, I'm not talking about getting scratched by a bush or something, I mean actually physically cutting myself on purpose with a knife or something, like 127 Hours. I just could not do that.

7. Rollercoasters. I am afraid of these because 1. I have never been on one, so I don't know what to expect, and 2. I have horrible motion sickness, and I don't really want to willingly get on a rollercoaster to inflict that on myself.

8. Getting cancer. I am sure everyone is afraid of this one. It is just so scary.

9. Knuckle popping. Gosh, it is just so gross.

10. Being single my whole life. I know that sounds stupid, but I already have a pretty good start on it. I just don't want to have to be alone my whole life, I could handle it, but I don't really want to have to.

Colorz

Once again, I am really tired, so I am just going to make this one really easy (and boring) for myself.

TOP TEN FAVORITE COLORS.

1. Orange. My life is orange. My house is orange, my car is orange, my room is orange, my cat is orange.

2. Heather gray.

3. Geranium.

4. Yellow.

5. Black.

6. Scarlet.

7. Mint.

8. Peach.

9. Coral.

10. Silver.

All day erryday.

This post is inspired by my most basic of routines (which, yes, may be boring, but I am too tired to be creative):

TEN THINGS I DO EVERYDAY.

1. Take a shower. I know this seems obvious, but I know when I had long hair, I didn't need to wash it everyday; now, if I don't wash my hair, it ends up looking very crazy and gross.

2. Drink a glass of orange juice (or any other kind of juice). This is sort of my essential breakfast item. Sometimes when I have to go to work earlier in the morning (meaning 10:30, as opposed to my usual 2), I don't want to eat anything, but I will drink a glass of juice. I am a juice fanatic. Any kind is good for me!

3. Get on Tumblr. I admit, I'm an addict. Tumblr is just so me, though, and I can't resist.

4. Read the comics in the newspaper. I enjoy my daily dose of LuAnn, Pearls Before Swine, Zits, Sally Forth, Blondie, and Baby Blues.

5. Watch the Food Network. Not a day goes by that I don't watch something on that channel.

6. Sleep. I am not sure this really counts, but I do love my sleep! I usually go to sleep at around midnight, and on a day where I don't have to get up early, I can sleep in past eleven.

7. Eat chocolate. If I don't have chocolate sometime during the day I just get this weird feeling. Some form of chocolate must be consumed daily.

8. Hang up clothes and put shoes away. When I am getting ready in the morning I sort of throw stuff all over the place. After work sometime I usually have to put something away.

9. Play "The Treat Game" with my cat. I just throw a treat down the hall, and she chases it. I enjoy doing this because she looks so cute when she runs!

10. Put on chapstick. I cannot exist properly without my chapstick.

P.S. My caption for this photo was "sort of creepy but accurate life purpose".
