My Very Strange Dream

As per instruction from Karoline, I have been told to recount a recently experienced STRANGE dream I had. Ready? Go:
So me and my family were in Disneyland. I was really excited to be there and to walk around and see all of the stuff (I don't ride rides because I have HORRIBLE motion sickness, and the same thought was running through my head in my dream). I wanted to go into a souvenir shop, but my family started yelling at me that shopping here was a waste of time. I was utterly heartbroken; I was CRUSHED by that statement. So I walked alongside my family as they rushed to this random specific ride that they just HAD to ride. Apparently they had planned out before the trip to go on this ride without telling me, and I had no idea what was going on in this dream; I was so confused. So while we are walking I keep asking questions about this ride--because the MOTION SICKNESS, right?--and they just keep saying things like, "Oh you'll be fine", "just suck it up", "it will be fun", etc...So we get to the ride, and it is in a building much like a giant laser-tag arena. It is this big, dark box on the outside, and it is dark inside. We get inside, and I am still pestering my family with questions, and we get to the equipment area. My brain has now inferred that this is a virtual-reality game in which we will be wearing helmets that make us think we are somewhere else so that we can experience a different life sort of a thing. So my family starts loading up with protective gear and padding, and helmets and weapons, and I am just sort of standing there like "what?", and finally my dad took pity on me and starting handing me things that I was going to need. I received: a fluffy pink baby-head-sized hat, fluffy mittens, and a little vial of something. While I am girding myself with my equipment, my sister climbs the flight of stairs up to the arena and announces to us that "if anything happens to her, we must skydive with her", and then she disappears. So we all follow up the stairs and get right into the fray. I slowly figured out the game, and here it is: This is a virtual-reality war game in which there are multiple levels. It starts with a group of seemingly normal people milling around until the predeteremined (but secret from the group) killer starts randomly killing people. The point is to kill the killer after he/she has begun killing others, and to be kept from getting killed yourself. It was really hard, and I was just not good at it, since I had no way to kill the killer before he/she killed me. So my family advances and goes to different levels, and I am still stuck on the first level. So the level starts up again, and I am just walking around, and suddenly the killer jumps out of rank and starts coming at me. So I promptly tripped backward over something and dislodged my vial from my belt. I open the vial and start squirting it at the killer, but it does little damage except sting, because the vial ended up being full of acid. (Sidenote: I always say that if given the choice of a superpower, I would want to be poisonous. This acid thing is my dream coming to fruition in a very lame way.) So I am lying on my back, squiting this vial and barely hitting anything, and the killer comes up and stabs my leg and then moves on because I was apparently not worth killing all the way. So I start writhing around on the ground, because this actually HURT (Sidenote: I often make my limbs fall asleep and go numb when I am sleeping, and I think this pain was the result of my leg waking up and doing that thing where it hurts A LOT.), so I was moaning and whimpering and rolling around at the side of the battlefield. Finally, the herd of people thins out a lot, and this one guy stumbles over to me, takes pity on me, and kills me the entire way. I am transported back to reality in Disneyland and the helmet is removed. I then have to wait for my family to emerge from the sadistic game. And then I woke up. THE END.

Day 18

Today I am grateful for: the piano. Man, I love this instrument! It is the one instrument I have stuck with my whole life, and I have at least some actual talent with it--and it serves some purpose in my life: I play the piano quite often in church now. I am really glad to have a music calling where I get to magnify my REAL talents: which are all music-related. Anyway, I just love the piano. You can play basically anything on it, and it will sound good...

Day 17

Today I am grateful for: movie theaters. I have been there quite a bit recently by myself on Saturday/Friday nights, and I am just happy that the people just welcome in us weird, single people who are going to see a movie by themselves. I just feel welcomed and I feel the love...for myself.

Day 16

Yesterday I was thankful for: my lotion. Since it is getting much colder now, my skin dries out way faster thank normal. Especially my hands. And it's not like I am very good about putting lotion on because I don't like how you can't open anything after you put it on, but I need it now, and I am happy to have it.

Day 15

Today I shalt be grateful for: cookies. I just have this serious obsession with desserts of all kinds but with restrictions, like no nuts, and I don't really like caramel...but anyway. I am just grateful that we have delicious sweet things to eat after (or instead of...FWP) our normal, somewhat less tasty meals. What would life be like if all we ate were green beans or salad? I think we need to throw some chocolate cake into the mix, eh?

Also, Karoline just came home with like a dozen gorgeous sugar cookies from some fancy bakery five towns away. You go Glen Coco...

Day 14

Today I am grateful for: my iPod. Where would we be without our mobile music appliance? I mean, I was alive when Walkmans were the cool thing so I KNOW how nice iPods are. One really nice factor about the iPod is that you have a huge plethora of music available in like 3x1 inches, and wearing earbuds makes people not try to talk to you. They are the perfect disguise. And I just really love my music, so I love having all of my weird faves genres available in one spot. Examples are: the 80s, modern alternative punky rock, and showtunes.

Day 13

Today i am grateful for: my abundance of coats and jackets and winterwear. Since the weather dropped like 60 degrees overnight, I find that I have not quite adjusted to the newly freezing temperatures. Thankfully, I have like 6 coats, several jackets and sweatshirts, and 4 sweaters, along with a ton of scarves and a pair of gloves. Winter sucks because it is so cold, but it also rocks because the winter clothes are the better clothes.

Day 12

I am just not good at this, but at least I am trying.

Yesterday I was thankful for: BYU. I just really love this school. All the professors are really nice and understanding and you can just relate to them on a much closer level. There is also a really fun variety of classes to take, and there are cool people, etc. I am just really grateful that I got into BYU and that I am here, and that I am doing so much better than I was fall of last year.

Day 11

Today I am grateful for: my car. I am so happy to have my own car at college; it is just awesome. With my (very cute orange) car, I can take impromptu trips to Salt Lake, or the mall, or anywhere else I choose. Despite having to pay for gas and occasionally transport people around, having my own car to get about in is fabulous.

Day 10

I realized at like one this morning that I forgot to do my blog post for the 10th. Here ya go:

Today I am thankful for: the mall. The mall is possibly the greatest creation that anyone has ever created. I just love that there are lots of stores all in one location so as to create ease and comfort whilst spending all of your money. Also, malls are just super fun around Christmas (and that was not sarcastic); there is so much holiday cheer, and you can be excused for spending all of your money because you can either be buying lots of presents for other people, or you can pretend they are for other people.

Weather

Well, today I was going to be thankful for: a really abnormally warm fall...but that is now over and extinct. Yesterday it was like 70, and today it is snowing buckets. So, in conclusion, I was very grateful for the past two months being mid 50s and 60s, and I am not happy about the snow.

This has been a weather broadcast by Melanie.

The Grocery Store

Today guess what I am thankful for: the gro-cer-y store. Man, that place is just awesome. I go to Smith's, and it supplies most of my nutritional needs...and by that I mean I buy lots of stuff there. Today, for instance, I bought more croissants, hand soap, lunchmeat, soda, and lemon bread (I had planned on eating some canned peaches that I already owned later too, so don't worry). I also love that Smith's is quite close (it's like a 7 minute drive, but a 45 minute walk so that sucks) and that I can go there often to satisfy my latest craving.

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Day 7

Today I am thankful for: art and creativity. What would this world be like without Van Gogh or Oscar de la Renta or Michael Jackson? Life would really suck if there weren't beautiful things to brighten up the day. I am so glad for the creativity and inspiration of all those cool famous people, and I am grateful for my own sense of creativity. I may not be the best artist, but I can watercolor the heck out of a blank sheet of paper. I will probably do a more specific post about a specific set or creative person, but for now just now that I am grateful for colorful, beautiful things to look at and listen to.

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Day 6: The Google Machine

Today I am grateful for: the internets. Seriously, how did people live without Google? I would just like to thank the internets for some things, a few of which are: Tumblr, Facebook, putlocker/sockshare, google, netflix, and that country game that I play all the time.

Monday, November 5, 2012

Day 5: The Cougareat

I would just really like to be thankful for the Cougareat today. On those days where I just really need something special for lunch/dinner, I pop over to the Cougareat to check out the daily special. And by that, I mean that I go to the Scoreboard Grill every single day and have a hamburger (the people there know my name, for crying out loud). I am a creature of habit, but I am thankful for my habits; they are delicious.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Day 4: The Internets

Today I am grateful for: my computer. With my computer I can escape reality and dive into any number of alternate universes through television and movies and stuff. I just really love my film media okay? TV/movie life is just so much better than real life. My computer helps me to do fun things without having to leave my comfortable room (see "Sleep"/day 3) and I can live vicariously through characters with more interesting lives than I have.

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Sleep

I would now like to be grateful for: my bed here in Provo. This is probably my favorite place in the entire city. This bed is way more comfortable than my one in Idaho for some reason, and I just sleep like the dead when I am here. Duly, I would like to give thanks for my comforter and fluffy/fuzzy blanket I currently sleep with. I would also like to give thanks for Daylight Savings Time tonight and my extra hour of sleep. That is glorious. Essentially, I am just super grateful for a comfy place to snuggle into at night.

Friday, November 2, 2012

Mailmen

Today I would like to give thanks for mailmen who charter tons of crap across the country into our front yards every day. I love getting and sending mail,--even though I am a really sucky correspondant, and I am always running out of stamps--and I am just really happy that stuff can be sent from store warehouses to my apartment, or from my Idaho house to my apartment. Stuff is just great, you know? So thank you, wonderful mailmen (and women), for braving the harsh climate of Utah to give me cool stuff...and bills, I can forgive you for that though.

Here we go again...

So, I am clearly a failure at blogging, but I have chosen to do a new designated 30 day challenge...aka just say something extremely random that I am grateful for every day. Why the heck not?

Okay, my first "I'm grateful for" thing is: TV. I mean REALLY. TV is great. It is a fabulous source of entertainment and I have gotten endless hours and years worth of pent-up emotion out because of TV. I'm just sayin' that it is a stress reliever. Who doesn't like to wrap up, eat a whole box of chocolate bread/cake and watch 5 episodes of Doctor Who or Buffy or America's Next Top Model? It is just so therapeutic.

Here is also a bonus list of the TV I am currently into (in order of current watching schedule):
Merlin
Once Upon A Time
America's Next Top Model
Downton Abbey
Jane By Design
Doctor Who
Sherlock
Psych
Pretty Little Liars
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Avatar the Last Airbender

Stupid Hipster Art Class

So for my major (Art History) I have to take this "Studio Tech for Art History" class. I was sort of excited to take this so that I can learn how to draw and stuff. NO. There are so many things wrong with my time in this class:

1. The teacher is SO AWKWARD. It did say on ratemyprofesser.com that he is really quiet and shy, so I was sort of expecting that. It is SO BAD. He can barely relay coherent sentences to us, let alone assignments and instructions. And no one wants to ask questions because he doesn't make sense or actually explain anything when you ask anyway.

2. We are not being taught how to draw. Instead of teaching us basic technique on how to draw, paint, do charcoal, ink, etc...we are given the tools to do, say an ink drawing, and are thrown into the lava pit and expected to create a masterpiece. These are his oral instructions: "Just make some lines on the paper until they come together. But don't draw something specific. But make it a landscape. But don't draw actual trees or anything..." WTF. So I drew some freaking lines and I freaking connected them and nothing came together and I could FEEL the judgement raining down upon me.

3. Everyone else seems to have either previous artistic training or natural artistic talent. I THOUGHT I was marginally artistic; I mean I can copy pictures decently. But I am obviously desperately lacking in that department. Everyone else's collage/charcoal drawings looked really artistic and put together, and mine looked like a kindergartener cut up random pieces of paper, stuck them to a piece of paper, scribbled on them, and then sat on it. It was humiliating.

4. We are supposed to do a sketchbook journal over the course wherein we are to depict our innermost thoughts and dreams through copying the styles of other artists. That just doesn't make sense to me. Each week we are given some artists as "inspiration" and we are supposed to study them and attempt to use their styles. So far, all of the artists we are supposed to check out are really hipster and emo, and I just don't roll that way.
This is what I drew in my sketchbook for this week:

This is apparently what I should have drawn:

I can tell you that I was harshly judged by the professor for drawing that. I watched him open  my sketchbook and just get this look of complete confusion. I could just see the wheels in his mind turning, "what in the world did this poor, disturbed child draw? This is way too normal for my hipster-centric class."

I am SO not happy about this. I am not going to draw two bunnies and some squares and call it reaching into the depths of my soul. Okay, so drawing a TARDIS diptych isn't exactly gut-wrenching, but I just can't really express my emotions in this way. I sort of prefer to not express my emotions at all, thank you. And, just because I am supposed to draw that way, I REALLY don't want to now! I shouldn't be told which style to draw in. I am not a hipster, and I refuse to identify as one through art.

Ugh I am a failure.

I still have not maintained my blog! Ugh, I suck at this. There are just so many other things to do (most of which are not productive at all anyway).

I have been trying to think of more top 10 lists I could do...I am just too lazy and I can't ever make up my mind about what I think. I will try to start that again, because it was sort of fun...

Kitten talk.

Yesterday, my family got a new kitten from my aunt who has a farm. They were born and raised in a barn, but were wild and kind of feral for a month, so our kitten is quite afraid of people still.

She was born without back feet, so she has little stumps of back legs, but she still gets around pretty good.
Right now she is living in my bathroom so my two adult cats don't eat her--and she was (and is) really afraid of the world outside. She was really afraid of people, but we have gotten her to like us for the most part.
We have named her Kevin (yes, Kevin), after Kevin Bacon because she is "footloose". But we mostly call her Stumpy.
Overall she is a good little cat, and I think we will be able to keep her!! :)

LASIK!!!!

So on Thursday, I got my eyes lasered by some opthamologists so that I can see without glasses--otherwise known as LASIK. This is the greatest thing I have ever done so far. I am so excited about the results.

I was super nervous going into the procedure; I had to take three Valium, and then I finally felt calm enough to focus on the procedure at hand. It actually ended up being really easy. I was very surprised and pleased. There were a couple of parts that may have been slightly uncomfortable, but they don't outweigh the good. I can't tell if the procedure was easy because I expected to freak out in the middle and ruin the whole thing, or just because it was easy. Either way, I am very happy.

My eyes also feel great. They don't hurt--except when I put the medical drops in 4 times a day; that stings--and they look totally normal--except I have a broken blood vessel in my right eye, but you can't see it because my eyelid covers it up. My vision is still fairly blurry; it fluctuates between really good, and hard to focus on anything, I am told this is fade away eventually, and I sure hope so. It's starting to get annoying. I keep reaching for my glasses so I can fix the blurriness, but HAHAHAHA I DON'T NEED THEM ANYMORE!!!! :):):):):):):)

I would seriously recommend LASIK to anyone now; it was unbelievably easy and helpful. Dr. Kathryn Fethke was my doctor, and I really liked her. All the staff that helped me were really kind and nice to me in my panic mode,so they can handle anything.

WOO MY LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW!!!

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is a big day for my image. I haven't told anyone outside of my family or work what is going down tomorrow, but just know that it is big and exciting. Maybe I will remember to post something on here tomorrow about it...

The Simpsons' Halloween

So, I am seriously not the best at keeping a schedule..*sigh* Welp, I may or may not continue with the "10 top things" nonsense in the near or far future...yeah I have no idea.

I started reading The Shining by Stephen King today...needless to say I am hearing noises all over my house--and I haven't even gotten to the killing part yet! I know everything that happens because of this old Halloween special of The Simpsons that my family watches every year. I know what you're thinking: What respectable LDS family watches The Simpsons? Well, 1. you are very small-minded, and 2. these Halloween specials are AWESOME. They aren't crude or disgusting like the current ones, they are just pure hilarious Halloween fun. The one I happen to be speaking of is called "The Shinning", and is a hilarious spin-off the book The Shining. Please just watch this: The Simpsons "The Shinning" Man, I am so excited about reading this book. I just stopped at the point where they are snowed in. I am quite excited to finish this >:)

I am so messed up.

I am not a slacker...

Yes, I have not posted the last two days, but my nighttime schedule is filled with a project that I must complete.

And no, I will not write my blog at a different time! Silly people.

Some movies just really suck.

TEN MOVIES THAT I HATE.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia. I just absolutely LOATH this series--at least the first installment, I couldn't bear to go beyond it. I just really hate the kids. They are way too young and stupid, and their accents are irritating beyond belief. I understand the this is a loved book series...but it sucks.

2. August Rush. The music in this movie kills me--IT IS SO FAKE. This child is not a music prodigy, he can't even play the guitar right. I also hate the story, and the ending was very anti-climatic.

3. It's Kind of a Funny Story. This movie has no plot or moral or purpose. It was just one stupid thing after another. I don't even understand the reason behind making this film.

4. The Polar Express. Another American classic degraded by my opinion. I completely abhor this movie. The animation sucks, it just does; the kids have no facial expressions at all. I also hate the music.

5. The Neverending Story. The ancient previews for this seemed fairly interesting, so I gave it a try. It was horrible. Don't even go there.

6. Groundhog Day. I am one of those people that really dislikes Bill Murray. I thought this movie was really frustrating.

7. Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. I am sorry, but I did not like this when I saw it in theaters. I was wholly confused by the "plot" and there was so much fighting in the beginning that I didn't understand the reason for.

8. Twilight. Usually this is higher up on peoples' lists, but I sort of figured that it was a given...I will give it credit for being REALLY fun to make fun of.

9. Nacho Libre. I just do not understand this movie. It was fun to watch it the first time (in a way) because of all the famous lines, but I still think the story is stupid.

10. Classic Pride and Prejudice. I am such a classic-killer. I have only seen the beginning part of this, but I was not impressed with the acting, and I don't like Colin Firth. I think he was a weird choice for the role.

Sunday, June 10, 2012

It's like my stomach is a bottom-less pit or something.

So, I am chronic hungry person, so I am dedicating this post to the one thing we all have in common:

TEN TOP FAVORITE FOODS (excluding dessert).

1. Steak. I have always been a hardcore steak fan; I take my steaks rare, like flip it once or twice on the grill and I'm good. I like my meat really pink.

2. Lobster/crab. I am a diehard seafood fan. If it is seafood, I will eat it--it is probably the only food group that I am not picky about. I just find lobster/crab to be the highest of quality seafood.

3. Peanut butter. I ingest like 3 tons of this a day...okay not really, but I eat it on a lot of bread products: pancakes, waffles, and just plain sandwiches.

4. Muffins. I am a sucker for a muffin; especially ones from Costco.

5. Ham. I like my ham with a massive amount of sugary glaze on it. That is definitely when it is the best; you just can't have ham without it.

6. Rolls. I love rolls of all kinds, but I think my Aunt's rolls are the best homemade ones I have ever had. We have them at every family gathering. Mmmm...

7. Sausage and rice casserole. I don't know exactly where my mother found this recipe, but I know that I love it. It may seem simple, but it is delicious and addicting.

8. Tater tot casserole. Thank you, Kelli. Um, who can resist tater tots in any form?

9. Chips and salsa. Salsa is the only Mexican/Hispanic food I will eat with happiness. I also like it really mild, as I cannot handle any kind of spicy food.

10. Breakfast foods. Pretty much everything counts: waffles, pancakes, french toast, caramel rolls, you name it.

Hot celebrities: the reason we all watch movies/TV.

Once again my love for movies and TV has fueled this post. Here is a little picture to get the party going:

TEN OBSESS-WORTHY MALE CELEBS.

1. David Tennant. I love this man more than I should. I actually cried (ask my roommates) when I found out he was married--NO JOKE. He has GREAT hair.

2. Bobby Flay. Yes, I am really weird, but one of my main reasons for watching the Food Network all the time is him. As I once heard someone say, "He is as yummy as the food he makes."

3. Johnny Depp. We all know that I have a deep and abiding love for Johnny Depp, and today was his birthday!! :) That is sort of what fueled this post's beginnings. Everything he does, I love.

4. Tom Hiddleston. OMG I love him; seeing all the hype about him on Tumblr and then seeing The Avengers did it for me. He is precious and hothothot beyond belief.

5. Richard Armitage. I just really enjoy everything I have seen him in--he is also going to be in the upcoming Hobbit movies, so I am WAY excited about that!

6. Benedict Cumberbatch. There is a definite evolution of my feelings for this man. The first time seeing him, "Omg his face is so weird"; second, "Wow but he's a really good actor; third, "Okay, he's kind of attractive in a strange way"; fourth, "Yep, I definitely like this man"; fifth, "please come to America and love me". Yes, I'm a creep, but Tumblr has only enhanced my inner creep.

7. Colin Morgan. Gosh, he is sort of another Cumberbatch for me. I always thought his face was weird, but now I just love it--and those precious ears...

8. Eoin Bailey. I pretty much watch Once Upon A Time just for him. He is so cute.

9. James Marsters. Okay, so I pretty much just love him as Spike, but I love him nonetheless. I just think the blonde, spiky hair looks so good on him!

10. Tom Felton. Once again, just watching Harry Potter for him and Snape, because the acting sure wasn't doing it for me! I certainly think he is quite cute in the movies, now that he has grown his hair out, not so much.

Man, writing all this and finding the pictures made me really happy.

But I obsess

If you know me at all, you would realize that I am an unhealthily obsessive person.

TEN THINGS I AM WEIRDLY OBSESSED WITH.

1. The Food Network. I could actually watch this channel all day and not get bored at all. I like all of the shows I have seen, although Chopped is not my favorite. I know I talked about it a bit before, but my favorite shows include The Next Food Network Star, Good Eats, Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, Iron Chef America, and Cupcake Wars.

2. Princesses. I am a total girly-girl about this, but I have loved Princesses since I was little. I have all the Disney princess Barbies, I have a shrine to Kate Middleton on my wall, I have read tons of books about royalty of all kinds...I am obsessed. My favorite princess (although she isn't technically a princess) is Anne Boleyn--I just really have always loved how she was willing to do almost anything to get what she wanted.

3. Great Britain. This place is amazing--I love anything to do with the British. ANYTHING.

4. Cats. My family has a deep and abiding love for cats. We volunteer at a cat shelter out in south Boise, and we have two cats in my house. We do also own many cat-related items like pillows and blankets and statues...

5. Chocolate. I don't even know how to survive without chocolate. It is pretty much the staple of my diet.

6. Leopard print. If something is leopard print, then I will most likely buy it or want it really badly. I currently have this large cut of velvety leopard print fabric hanging over my bedroom window like pseudo-curtains.

7. Weddings. I discussed this before, I know, but I just have always had this thing for weddings. I don't really even know why. I mostly just think that all the planning and individualism that goes into weddings is so special and fun. I love to see the wedding colors, and cake, and dress, and location, and all the cool unique details that go into each wedding.

8. Christmas. I am such a child; but Christmas is just one of those times that I really look forward to. In fact, I had a moment today where I wished it was Christmas. And it's not really Christmas itself that I love, it's the season. I love all the traditions, and family stuff, and I guess presents are nice too.

9. Almond flavoring. This is the stuff that goes into those delicious poppy seed muffins from Costco. I LOVE it. I actually made an almond pound cake tonight to satisfy my craving for the stuff. I also really like it strong. They make this fudge at Cabelas called Amaretto fudge, and it is TO DIE FOR...if you like really strong almond flavoring.

10. Erasers. I just find erasers to be really soft and smooth, so if I am holding a pencil, it is 100% possible that I am playing around with the eraser. It really distracts me.

Thursday, June 7, 2012

I am a movie fan.

As per my obsession with fictional characters, I have decided to put together a list of my favorite movies! Yay!

TOP TEN FAVORITE MOVIES.

1. Gone With the Wind. I pretty much have to have this one first on principle; I could never let down my idol, Scarlett O'Hara...and anyway, I really do love this story--and the cinematography is great for such an old film!
2. Tangled. I have watched this movie about 15 times. I just really love it...
3. The Devil Wears Prada. Okay, so I'm a sucker for a good fashion movie. I also really think that Anne Hathaway is a fabulous actress, and Meryl Streep is just awesome. You just can't go wrong with this movie.
4. Holiday Inn. This is one of those old black and white Bing Crosby movies. It is just so good. The music is really good, and the acting is awesome. This also has Fred Astaire in it, so of course the dancing is fabulous as well.
5. The Turning Point. This movie is one of the best ballet movies I have seen. It has an actual story line while still maintaining some really good dance scenes. I often just get a craving to watch this. It was made in the 70s, so the hair and clothes are pretty bad though.
6. Pride and Prejudice. NOT the awful six-hour one though, the newer one with Keira Knightley. I know it seems like utter blasphemy to hate the old one, but I do not like the acting, and I greatly dislike Colin Firth (what am I, except for an enigma?). The music is awesome and I love the costumes.
7. North and South. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Pride and Prejudice-esque stories. This one is sectioned into four 50-minute episodes. I just REALLY love Richard Armitage.
8. Confessions of a Shopaholic. A lot of the time, I feel like I am a part of this movie--I'm not in serious debt or anything, but I have the same feelings she does about shopping.
9. Pirates of the Caribbean. I just love these movies!! The second one is my favorite, however. And really, who doesn't love these movies?
10. The RM. This is a risk, putting this on here, but I just think it is so funny. It is an LDS filmed, produced,  acted, etc. movie, and I am not sure you can totally appreciate its charm unless you are LDS, but just know that it is hilarious.

Fun jobs.

Since I am in college, careers and majors are often on my mind, so I thought I would dedicate this post to

TEN MOST INTERESTING-SOUNDING CAREERS (regardless of income or realism).

1. Wedding dress designer. I admit it, I am a freak about weddings; I absolutely adore them. I remember I wanted to be a wedding dress designer my whole life until the reality that I can't draw or sew popped in. It is still something that I would love to do though.

2. Wedding planner. This was my goal after I realized the designing was a lofty goal. Recently I realized the pure awkwardness I feel when I have planned a party--I am just always really worried that everyone is bored and that it is nothing like the fun parties I have been to. I just don't know how to throw a good party! It's sad, really.

3. Interior decorator. I would love to say I have an eye for design--I could be wrong, but that's what I think. I love to move into new places because I get to completely redo my space; I just think it is so fun! I definitely went on a kick a few years ago where I would read everything I could about interior design. I still really like it, and read about it when I can.

4. Artist. I wish I could draw or paint or something. I do have a talent for copying a picture of something into a pencil drawing, but I certainly couldn't paint it or anything. I am taking a class this upcoming semester in studio art, so hopefully I can learn something--and maybe be more on my way to wedding dress designer!

5. Museum Curator. This is the career I have chosen thus far in my career...it's sort of far down on my list, but I nonetheless find it a very interesting vocation. I love museums A LOT and I think it would be super fun to work in one.

6. Ballerina. Yes, I would consider this a career. I am absolutely OBSESSED with ballet. It really consumes my YouTube time. I wish more than anything that I would have started ballet when I was young so that I could be en pointe now.

7. Architect. I have always thought that this would be a fascinating job. As far as I understand though, you have to take a lot of math and physics and stuff, but I think the designing would be really fun.

8. Surgeon. I realize that this is a really random jump, but I really admire surgeons. I think I would be fairly good at it; in high school biology I was a prodigy at dissecting. I also find hospitals fascinating.

9. Singer. I used to think that I was the greatest singer in the world when I was younger. I would go out into the middle of the field at recess and dramatically "belt" out the chorus to "Memory" from the musical Cats. I was convinced that I was going to play Christine in Phantom of the Opera. It's sort of embarrassing, but my love for singing stills remains even though I realize I am not star quality. I wish I was talented enough to make it big with that.

10. Cosmetologist. I have always thought that cosmetologists are the trendiest people; they always have really fun/funky hairstyles and cool makeup...I like that. I wish I was talented with hair--part of the reason I cut all of mine off was because I didn't know how to do anything.

YouTube.

YouTube is one of those places filled with awesome, hilarious stuff AND I LOVE IT. I avidly follow a couple of YouTubers. This is a list long in the making, and this should be quite entertaining.

TOP TEN FAVORITE YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

1. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared by thisisitcollective. I first saw this on Tumblr, and I have loved it ever since. Now, if you go and watch this, you are all going to judge me, because this is actually kind of disturbing...but I think it's HILARIOUS. It is sort of like a kids' TV show gone really wrong. Love it. Watch it. Embrace it.

2. Josh Groban Sings Kanye West Tweets. Man...whatever happened to my antique fish tank? Seriously though, this is a classic video that everyone needs to see.

3. Yes Kidz Kan, Rhinobunga! Another kids show gone horribly wrong, but in a really funny way (not disturbing like the other one).

4. Going to the Store. I don't even understand what is going on, but I think it is hilarious!!! Be warned, this is really random and strange for a whole 49 seconds.

5.Mr. G's Classroom. Yeah, I don't even know. I apparently have a really weird sense of humor.

6. Spaghetti Cat (I Weep For You). Just prepare to have this stuck in your head for days to come.

7. Sassy Gay Friend: Romeo & Juliet. I just think the Sassy Gay Friend is hilarious.

8. MADTV's Stuart Goes To His Dad's. I went through this phase where I watched ALL of the Stuart videos. They are all awesome.

9. The Girl With the Epileptic Dog by Flight of the Conchords. I pretty much just love all of their stuff though.

10. The Best YouTube video of all time. Please just go watch this, it will blow your mind.

And there you have my YouTube personality wedged into one tiny blog post; I am considering doing another installment, as there were several other videos that didn't make this cut. Stay tuned!

Please tell me you watched these...or at least the amazing last one.

TV junkie.

So, I am a TV junkie, and I have been excited about this post for some time; but, I haven't been able to really decide which TV shows deserve a spotlight on here until now.

TOP TEN FAVORITE TV SHOWS.

1. Doctor Who. I started watching this Junior year of high school, I believe, because of my friend Alicia who made me watch it. It sounded interesting to me, and as soon as I saw that episode (Voyage of the Damned was my first) I was hooked. I went home and tried to explain everything to my family, but they thought it was weird. Instant Netflix didn't exist, and I had no money to buy all the episodes on iTunes, so I waited not-so-patiently for the seasons to come from the library. I have been a devoted fan ever since. When my family went to London after I graduated from high school, we went to the Doctor Who experience which was FABULOUS. I am so glad I got to go to that. I got all kinds of sweet merch from that.

2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is a really recent obsession, maybe since mid April, but it's SO GOOD. Oh my gosh. I decided to start watching it after I wrote my Doctor Who paper for Writing this past semester. A lot of the information I came across was comparing Doctor Who to Buffy, so I thought since they were so similar I would give it a try. I am just wholly devoted now. I can't wait to get to the later seasons--I am almost done with season 3 right now--because there is some really good stuff looming.

3. Sherlock. This show is SO GOOD. I highly recommend it to everyone--especially people who like more "normal" TV. Benedict Cumberbatch is just SO GOOD as Sherlock Holmes, and the writing is really good (the same writer of Doctor Who does this show as well). Everyone needs to watch this; it appeals to all audiences, and really, who doesn't love Sherlock Holmes?

4. Merlin. Another BBC sci-fi show; this one is a King Arthur-related one where the focus is all on Merlin and Arthur growing up together in a time where magic is outlawed. Merlin is has to keep his magic hidden from Arthur, but is still always saving his life and stuff. Man, it is good.

5. Psych. This show is sort of Sherlock Holmes-esque, but it a hilarious modern way. The characters are all funny, and the episodes are always interesting. I never get tired of their shenanigans.

6. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Yes, I am obsessed with this cartoon. I watch all of the seasons this past semester, and I LOVED it. I actually HATE anime with a passion, but these characters seem so real, and the plot is very interesting.

7. Once Upon A Time. Okay so when I first watched this, I hated it; I thought it was really cheesy and sappy. Now I really like it. I just really enjoy seeing which fairy tale characters the people are and how their stories play out...it's just sort of fun.

8. Robin Hood. This show was fabulous up until the horrible end to season 2--I couldn't even watch past it. But the acting and story was so good until then, and then the ending was heart-breaking and stupid. I still recommend it though up until that point.

So those are the top 8 that I have really obsessed over, the next two are just part of a bigger obsession: THE FOOD NETWORK.

9. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I really love this show. I just like watching Guy go to all those cities and eat stuff...I don't even know why. I also really like it when he comes/goes to places in Boise.

10. Next Food Network Star. I just really like elimination shows like this, and Bobby Flay has a big part in this season. <3.

Frights.

This post is a completely spur of the moment, random idea.

TEN THINGS I AM AFRAID OF.

1. Moths. They actually freak me out more than anything. I don't like that 1. they only come out at night, 2. they can't fly straight and they can't steer, so they are always close to hitting me, and 3. they are disgusting. I just shiver with the thought of them.

2. Teeth. I hate teeth; I have since I was little. Loose teeth especially have freaked me out my whole life. I really hated the feeling of loose teeth in my mouth, so I would leave them alone and not touch them, or brush them. I will leave the rest to your imagination.

3. Grasshoppers. This just stems off of an experience I had when I was little. My family was taking a walk on a mountain trail, and there were all these grasshoppers zipping around RIGHT AT FACE LEVEL. It was horrible. They kept hitting me in the face and I was just terrified.

4. Nasal vaccinations. I have had a flu shot only once, and I was not happy about it. It was taking place at school because we were having a nasty bought of the flu that had almost 25% of the school out sick, so almost everyone was required to get one. When I got there, the majority of the vaccines were taken nasally, and I thought I was going to pass out; the whole idea just freaked me out. I insisted that I have a shot, and a shot I got. Well, at least I can never take drugs, because taking things nasally just freaks me out.

5. Eye doctor. Specifically these anesthesia drops I had one time that made me faint. Those eye drops really made me uncomfortable; my eyes felt really heavy and dry and then I blacked out. Now the thought of those drops, as well as anything else that goes in my eyes, just makes me nauseous.

6. Cutting myself. Now, I'm not talking about getting scratched by a bush or something, I mean actually physically cutting myself on purpose with a knife or something, like 127 Hours. I just could not do that.

7. Rollercoasters. I am afraid of these because 1. I have never been on one, so I don't know what to expect, and 2. I have horrible motion sickness, and I don't really want to willingly get on a rollercoaster to inflict that on myself.

8. Getting cancer. I am sure everyone is afraid of this one. It is just so scary.

9. Knuckle popping. Gosh, it is just so gross.

10. Being single my whole life. I know that sounds stupid, but I already have a pretty good start on it. I just don't want to have to be alone my whole life, I could handle it, but I don't really want to have to.

Colorz

Once again, I am really tired, so I am just going to make this one really easy (and boring) for myself.

TOP TEN FAVORITE COLORS.

1. Orange. My life is orange. My house is orange, my car is orange, my room is orange, my cat is orange.

2. Heather gray.

3. Geranium.

4. Yellow.

5. Black.

6. Scarlet.

7. Mint.

8. Peach.

9. Coral.

10. Silver.

All day erryday.

This post is inspired by my most basic of routines (which, yes, may be boring, but I am too tired to be creative):

TEN THINGS I DO EVERYDAY.

1. Take a shower. I know this seems obvious, but I know when I had long hair, I didn't need to wash it everyday; now, if I don't wash my hair, it ends up looking very crazy and gross.

2. Drink a glass of orange juice (or any other kind of juice). This is sort of my essential breakfast item. Sometimes when I have to go to work earlier in the morning (meaning 10:30, as opposed to my usual 2), I don't want to eat anything, but I will drink a glass of juice. I am a juice fanatic. Any kind is good for me!

3. Get on Tumblr. I admit, I'm an addict. Tumblr is just so me, though, and I can't resist.

4. Read the comics in the newspaper. I enjoy my daily dose of LuAnn, Pearls Before Swine, Zits, Sally Forth, Blondie, and Baby Blues.

5. Watch the Food Network. Not a day goes by that I don't watch something on that channel.

6. Sleep. I am not sure this really counts, but I do love my sleep! I usually go to sleep at around midnight, and on a day where I don't have to get up early, I can sleep in past eleven.

7. Eat chocolate. If I don't have chocolate sometime during the day I just get this weird feeling. Some form of chocolate must be consumed daily.

8. Hang up clothes and put shoes away. When I am getting ready in the morning I sort of throw stuff all over the place. After work sometime I usually have to put something away.

9. Play "The Treat Game" with my cat. I just throw a treat down the hall, and she chases it. I enjoy doing this because she looks so cute when she runs!

10. Put on chapstick. I cannot exist properly without my chapstick.

P.S. My caption for this photo was "sort of creepy but accurate life purpose".

Michael Jackson.

So I came up with today's post while driving to work today. I couldn't decide what to listen to, and then I remembered my extensive collection of Michael Jackson songs. I had a really hard time deciding which songs to put on this list. There were several I had to leave out grudgingly, but I do have an honorary 11th place winner.

TOP TEN FAVORITE MICHAEL JACKSON SONGS.

1. Thriller. Seriously, what kind of fan would I be if I genuinely didn't adore MJ's swan song? I absolutely love this song. I have enjoyed trying to learn the dance so that I can feel super cool whenever this song comes on.

2. Money. I would assume that most people have not heard this song before. The first time I heard it was on the Michael Jackson Experience wii game (it's like Just Dance Michael Jackson style), but I absolutely LOVE this song. It is one of his "newer" ones, so it's a sort of different style than the classics; but, I love it nonetheless.

3. Streetwalker. Another not-well-known song that I first heard on that video game. This one is probably my favorite one on that game. This one has a beat much like The Way You Make Me Feel. It is really fun and pop-y.

4. The Way You Make Me Feel. Everybody knows this song; everybody loves this song.

5. Billie Jean. I wonder if this is his second greatest hit after Thriller... Either way, I love it! I also especially love the video from Motown 25 where he performed this live for the first time.

6. Beat It. Once again, everyone loves this song, AND I love the music video. His piano key shirt is awesome.

7. Baby Be Mine. This is from the original Thriller album. I really like this song, not really for any particular reason, but I like it.

8. The Girl Is Mine. This is a duet between Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney, which makes it doubly good. It is just light-hearted and fun.

9. Ghost. Another more "recent" of his songs that I found on the wii game. It is just a strange song, but I like it. I love that so many of his songs are about nothing at all, like "Ghost" and "Thriller" and "Money"; it is a refreshing change from the constant love song.

10. You Rock My World. I remember just randomly buying this album and being overwhelmed with the awesome music. I just really like the beat and melody of this song. It does, however, have a very strange intro with some guy with a really annoying voice. I also have no idea what MJ is saying half the time, and neither does anyone else--everywhere I look up the lyrics they are different.

Honorary 11th Song: This Is It. This is the song that was released with the post-mortem movie This Is It. I really love this song, but haven't been able to buy it because you have to buy the whole album (of which I have all the songs except this one). Also, if you haven't seen This Is It, you need to. It is really good, and not just for fans.

I suck.

Today was just one of those days. I had a hair appointment at 8:30 this morning (which is very early for me) and then I had to work at 10:30. I ended up tellering the whole work day (I usually teller until about 3 and then file, but I was needed), and then I didn't quite balance my monies and had to stay an extra hour to get it all sorted out.
So, due to the serious stupid-day I had today at work, I am dedicating this post to

TEN THINGS I SUCK AT:

1. Guessing-how-many-items-are-in-the-container games. In case that was totally unclear, I mean those games where there are a bunch of jelly beans in a jar and you have to try to guess the amount, and whoever gets the closest gets a prize or a million dollars or something. I would not win the million dollars. Recently I went to a baby shower where we had to guess how many pieces of candy were in this jar; I guessed 32, and there were 77. I have absolutely NO awareness of that sort of stuff. This weekend we were counting train cars, and I originally guessed 50 because I thought it was a really long train, saw the end of the train coming, and changed my answer to 30...there were 50.

2. Counting money/simple math. This suckage problem has stumbled upon me in the recent weeks. Whilst under pressure, I find it nearly impossible to count back the cash I am supposed to be balancing or giving out or whatever. I also multiplied 20 by 10 and got 10,000 several times...I don't know how I do that.

3. Spinning to the right. This one takes place in ballet. Most people are righties so most of the things we do in ballet use the right side more...I happen to be an unusual lefty (which I usually pride myself on). Therefore, whenever we do pirouettes, I look beyond stupid stumbling around whilst trying to turn to the right. I look fine when we finally do the left side, but until then, I look like an idiot.

4. Tying knots at the end of sewing thread. I have never been able to do this. It is impossible to me.

5. Pool. I suck at this game. On my extensive list of sports that I suck at, pool is #1. I was once in a game where the loser had to do like 50 pushups or something. The only reason I didn't have to do that was because the other team hit the black ball into the hole (don't I sound like I understand this game?) before they were supposed to. My teammate still never spoke to me again...

6. Playing wind instruments. I have tried, believe me. I started on trumpet, and then went to flute, and then settled on percussion/piano where you don't have to blow into anything. I just have absolutely no breath/lung support. I tried to play my sister's bass clarinet and could only get squeaks out.

7. Tackling people. I have only ever tried this once, but once was quite enough.

8. Hearing/listening. I just do not understand people very clearly when they talk, I think it is sort of an American thing, but still, I suck at understanding words.

9. Controlling my fangirl urges in public. I have committed so many misdemeanors regarding acceptable fangirling. If I hear someone in the store talking about Doctor Who or Sherlock or something, I sort of go ballistic. It is so embarrassing.

10. Mowing the grass. I only suck at this because I am constantly in a state of fright as to whether bugs are going to fly up out of the grass and land on me. Ugh it gives me shivers. But because of this edginess, I often will run back into the house and the first sight of movement and leave the lawn mower idling with only like 10 square feet of grass cut.

All of my favorite people on one page.

Based on the fact that I watched Pirates of the Caribbean tonight, awesome fictional characters are on my mind. So, based on the fact that I basically live vicariously through TV/movie/book characters, here are my

TOP TEN FAVORITE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.

1. Scarlett O'Hara (from Gone With the Wind). Yes, I am one of those people. But I absolutely worship her...in a totally non-heathen way. She is shrewd, stubborn, hard-headed, and selfish--which most people wouldn't find admirable, but I just idolize her. She is part of the old South where women are not highly thought of in a business sense, and she just does what she wants no matter what other people think of her. I really try to live my life by the same rules.
Just look at how sassy she is!

2. Jack Sparrow (from Pirates of the Caribbean). He is just awesome. From the moment I first saw the first movie, I was hooked. I am not entirely sure why I love him so much, it could be that 1. I just flipping LOVE Johnny Depp, or 2. that I find him weirdly attractive...

3. Sherlock Holmes (from BBC's Sherlock). I just cannot express how much I adore the way he is portrayed. He is extremely sassy to people, but is highly intelligent and still gets to do what he wants. I just LOVE him.

4. The Doctor (as portrayed by David Tennant in Doctor Who). He is definitely my favorite Doctor out of the lot of them. For one, David Tennant is very good-looking, but there is also this essence of sadness and power and fun and rolled-up into one person. He is a very in-depth character. Ugh, I love him.

5. Carlton Lassiter (from Psych). From the moment I first watched Psych, I knew Lassie was going to be my favorite. I certainly can relate to him in a very cynical way. Rule #1 with me and people: My favorite kind of people are the ones that are grouchy on the outside, but sensitive and nice on the inside. Lassie is one of those people.

6. Prince Zuko (from Avatar The Last Airbender). I am just going to let my nerdiness speak for this one. I don't want to embarrass myself further. But the same rule applies from the last one.

7. Severus Snape (from Harry Potter). Same rule applies. And everyone loves Snape, so this is really a no-brainer.

8. Spike (from Buffy The Vampire Slayer). Okay, so I have developed a beyond normal interest in this guy... I am only halfway through season 3, so most of the really good stuff that happens with him hasn't happened yet, but I remain hopeful and excited for the episodes to come. Same rule applies.

9. Loki (from The Avengers). Um, everyone loves him. He is probably the most recent of my obsessions. Once again, sassy on the outside, but with real feelings on the inside! Ugh, I can't even contain my love for him.

10. Squidward (from Spongebob). Well, this makes me officially very weird. But he is so grouchy! How can you not resist?

Okay, so now I have most of my weirdness out in the open. I also feel like there are some characters that I totally missed...oh well.
